Thuan An Wood, Dry Cell, Thien Nam, Tan Hoa Stocks on June 03

VN-Index, a measure of 153 companies on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, extended a rally for a ninth day, adding 10.76, or 2.6%, to close at 430.05, the highest since May 22. Of the index members, 142 gained, five fell and six were unchanged.

Thuan An Wood Processing Joint-Stock Co. (GTA VN), a maker and exporter of wooden household furniture, rose for an eighth day, adding 400 dong, or 2.8 percent, to 14,800, the highest since May 16. Phuoc Hoa Rubber Joint-Stock Co., a shareholder in Thuan An, started buying 500,000 shares from today, to raise its holding to 1.6 million shares, or 15%, from 10.2%, the bourse said in a bulletin today.

Dry Cell & Storage Battery Joint-Stock Co. (PAC VN), which produces and sells dry cells and batteries for vehicles, rallied 1,100 dong, almost 3% -- the bourse's maximum daily limit -- to 38,000. The Ho Chi Minh City-based company estimated 2008 first half earnings of 33.5 billion dong ($2 million), according to a statement on the exchange's Web site today. The company reported full-year 2007 profit at 52 billion dong, according to a separate document from the exchange.

Thien Nam Trading Import-Export Joint-Stock Co. (TNA VN), based in Ho Chi Minh City, rose 500 dong, or 2.6%, to a 10-day high of 19,700 dong. The company will postpone the sale of 4.7 million additional shares to wait for more favorable conditions in the market, Thoi Bao Ngan Hang reported today.

Tan Hoa Plastic Joint-Stock Co. (VKP VN), a Ho Chi Minh City-based producer of plastic packaging, dropped for a seventh day, sliding 1,000 dong, or 2.8%, to 35,100. Tan Hoa has lost 20% since it started trading on June 19 at 44,000 dong. The company plans to pay a dividend of 12% this year, a drop from 15% last year, according to a statement on the exchange's Web site. (Bloomberg)
