Stocks: Vinacafe Bien Hoa, Donghai, Saovang Rubber

VNStockNews.com - Shares of the following companies had unusual moves in Vietnam trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and prices are as of the 11 a.m. local-time close.


The VN Index, the benchmark measure of the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, rose 1 percent to 466.12.

Donghai Joint-Stock Company of Bentre (DHC VN), which manufactures paper, rose 4.6 percent to 11,500 dong. BenTre Seafood Import & Export Joint-Stock Co. raised its stake in the company to 9.16 percent from 8.16 percent, according to a statement on the exchange’s website.

Vinacafe Bien Hoa Joint-Stock Co. (VCF VN), which produces coffee, dropped 3.3 percent to 46,900 dong. Thousands of hectares of coffee and rice crops in Vietnam’s northern Central Highlands are at risk due to a lack of rainfall, Vietnam News reported, citing provincial departments of agriculture and rural development.

Saovang Rubber Joint-Stock Co. (SRC VN), which manufactures tires for automobiles, motorcycles and bicycles, increased 4.9 percent to 23,800 dong, the biggest advance since Jan. 12.

Rubber advanced for the first time in eight days as a 15 percent decline to the lowest level in a month attracted buyers on concern supplies may decrease in the low-production season.

The August-delivery contract climbed as much as 2.8 percent to 479.3 yen a kilogram ($5,847 a metric ton) on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange before trading at 477.6 yen at 12:27 p.m. local time. The price fell to 455 yen in after-hours trading on Feb. 25, the lowest level since Jan. 26. (Bloomberg)
