The VN Index, the benchmark measure of the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, rose 3.4 percent to 435.69.
Rubber Stocks: Phuoc Hoa Rubber Joint-Stock Co. (PHR VN), the largest listed producer of the commodity, rose 2.6 percent to a two-week high of 31,600 dong. Dong Phu Rubber Joint-Stock Co. (DPR VN), the second-largest listed rubber company, gained 1.8 percent to 56,000 dong. Danang Rubber Joint-Stock Co. (DRC VN) jumped 4.7 percent to 19,900 dong.
Rubber for November delivery climbed as much as 1.1 percent today as crude oil extended gains, boosting the appeal of the commodity as an alternative to synthetic products used in tires, and supplies from Thailand remained tight after rain disrupted tapping.
Cadovimex Seafood Import-Export & Processing Joint-Stock Co. (CAD VN), a processor and trader of seafood based in the southernmost province of Ca Mau, fell 2.6 percent to 3,700 dong. The bourse will suspend trading of the company from tomorrow after it posted two consecutive annual losses in 2009 and 2010, according to a statement on the exchange’s website.
Ho Chi Minh City Securities Corp. (HCM) , a stock brokerage, surged 5 percent to 16,800 dong, the steepest gain since July 13. The company plans to pay its shareholders a dividend of 700 dong a share on July 1, it said in a statement filed on the exchange’s website. (Bloomberg)
